Who are Kallisto?
Kallisto is one of the only dedicated providers in the UK specialising in precast concrete curved and helical staircases. As a division of Milbank Concrete Products, we bring over 75 years of manufacturing expertise to every project. Our staircases have been commissioned for some of the most prestigious developments in the UK, and we work in close partnership with architects, engineers, designers, property developers, and private clients to deliver distinctive, durable stair installations.
What are precast concrete stairs?
Precast concrete stairs are manufactured in a controlled offsite facility and delivered to site ready for installation. This process ensures greater precision, consistency in quality, and faster installation times. At our factory in Essex, we produce everything from straightforward stair solutions to highly bespoke, architecturally complex units.
Why should I choose a precast concrete staircase?
Precast stairs are often chosen for their structural integrity, visual quality, and efficiency. They are quicker to install, offer long-term durability, and provide a consistently high standard of finish. Compared to traditional site-built stairs made from timber or steel, precast concrete offers improved safety, reduced site disruption, and long-term value.
Are your concrete stairs finished?
Our staircases are supplied as structural precast concrete units. By default, they are cast inverted using precision steel moulds, resulting in a hand-trowelled soffit and an ex-mould finish to NSCS Standard Specification “Plain”. The soffit is finished to NSCS “Basic” standard.
Once installed, your chosen finishes – such as timber, stone, marble, or tiles – can be applied by your contractor or interior designer. However, for those looking for a more architectural concrete finish, we can also supply staircases in:
Exposed aggregate concrete
Polished concrete
These finishes create a bold, contemporary look where the raw beauty of the concrete becomes the feature itself.
Can you help with concrete stair design?
Yes, we have a dedicated in-house design team with extensive experience in both structural and aesthetic stair design. We offer guidance at every stage, from concept through to installation, ensuring your vision is brought to life with technical accuracy and attention to detail.
Are your concrete stairs bespoke or standardised?
All Kallisto staircases are completely bespoke. Every unit is hand-crafted to your exact specifications, taking into account dimensions, geometry, layout, and project requirements. We do not offer off-the-shelf products, each stair is designed to be unique.
Do your stairs comply with building regulations?
Yes, all of our precast staircases comply fully with UK Building Regulations, including Approved Document K and the relevant standards for helical and spiral stair design as set out in BS 5395-2. You can have full confidence that our designs meet structural and safety requirements.
Do you offer delivery and installation?
Yes, we operate a dedicated transport network and a highly experienced installation team. Our stair units are delivered directly to site and installed by professionals familiar with lifting, positioning, and securing complex precast elements. We provide a seamless end-to-end service.
Can you provide precast concrete landings?
We can supply bespoke precast landings that integrate directly with our staircases. These curved landings follow the same geometry as the stair flight and serve both a functional and architectural role, enhancing visual continuity and providing additional structural support.
How do you make your precast stairs?
Our staircases are manufactured in our specialist Essex facility using a combination of expert craftsmanship and modern production methods. Our team of carpenters and casters work with state-of-the-art palletised formwork and shuttering systems, developed with leading Northern European technology, to produce each staircase to the highest standard of finish and accuracy.
Do you have a showroom?

Where can I buy your precast concrete stairs?
You can purchase directly from Kallisto. As part of Milbank Concrete Products, we manage the entire process in-house, from design and manufacture to delivery and installation, ensuring a professional, transparent and expertly executed service from beginning to end.
