How Kallisto Was Born
The story of Kallisto starts back in the 1990s, when Milbank Concrete Products was asked to create a curved staircase for the University of Essex. It wasn’t easy – we faced plenty of challenges – but in the end, the staircase stood tall and made a lasting impression.
Not long after, St James (part of the Berkeley Group) approached us. They’d seen the University project and wanted a curved staircase of their own. This was a different league of client – working at the very top of the housing market – and we knew we needed to raise our game.
Determined to succeed, we invested in research and discovered an innovative, adjustable mould in Europe. This allowed us to create curved staircases of varying shapes and sizes with the level of precision and craftsmanship high-end developers demanded.
That moment changed everything. We weren’t just making concrete staircases anymore – we were creating architectural centrepieces for some of the most exclusive homes and buildings in the country. It was a completely different audience from our core MCP customers, so we created a brand that would speak directly to them, one that reflected luxury, elegance, and design excellence.
And that’s how Kallisto was born!
