Frequently Asked Questions

Who are Kallisto?

Kallisto Stairs is one of the only concepts in the United Kingdom for precast concrete curved and helical stairs. Our expertise has been commissioned for luxury staircase installations in some of the most prestigious venues in the UK, working with architects, engineers, designers, property developers and private clients to produce stunning, durable precast concrete spiral staircase installations.

What are precast concrete stairs?

Providing rapid installation, safety and a high-quality finish, our highly-experienced team of designers, shuttering carpenters and casters can produce anything from a simple cost-effective concrete staircase to the most complex custom units at our state-of-the-art factory.

Why should i choose a precast concrete staircase?

There are a range of advantages to choosing a concrete stair including quality, safety, structural rigidity and speed of installation. From price to aesthetics, they are the smarter choice over traditional methods such as timber or steel.

Are your concrete stairs finished?

We provide the structural precast concrete base component only. Our curved precast concrete stairs are generally cast inverted on steel pallets, with a hand trowelled soffit. The ex-mould finish of these flights complies with NSCS Standard Specification - “Plain” and the hand trowelled soffit is NSCS Standard Specification “Basic”. On completion of installation, stairs can be finished by other trades in a material of your choice that best suits the property, such as marble, stone or timber. We can help recommend finishing trades should they be required.

Can you help with concrete stair design?

Yes. We have a dedicated in-house design team with over 75 years' experience who specialise in bringing your ideas to life. We are well-equipped to offer both design and engineering/structural support advice to all of our clients.

Are your concrete stairs bespoke or can they be standardised at all?

Every single one of our curved and helical concrete stairs is custom-made by hand and completely bespoke.

Do your concrete stairs comply with building regulations?

Yes. All of our precast curved concrete stairs including our helical, winder and spiral staircases comply with UK building regulations.

Do you offer delivery and installation?

Yes. We have both a dedicated transport facility and experienced installation teams that are on hand to assist with any project, no matter how big or small.

Can you provide concrete stairs with precast concrete landings?

Yes. In addition to our precast stairs, we are also able to provide bespoke precast concrete landings to incorporate within the load bearing structure. As a luxurious accompaniment to any of our stairs, our custom-made curved landings match the sweeping geometries of the curved stairs providing both aesthetics and additional structural rigidity.

How do you make your precast concrete stairs?

Our highly experienced team of carpenters and casters combine their craftsmanship with modern methods of construction to hand-craft all of our stairs at our specialist manufacturing facility. By utilising leading Northern European manufacturing technology, our palletised formwork and precast shuttering system ensures the finish is of the highest quality.
